Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

        Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the Global Goals, were agreed and adopted on September 2015 by 193 members states of the United Nations. The document titled “Transforming our World: 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” is a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. It consists of 17 Sustainable Development Goals and associated 169 targets. The four dimensions of SDGs are Social Equity; Inclusive economic growth; Protecting Environment; and Peaceful & inclusive societies. SDGs are universal, interconnected and indivisible and hence necessitate comprehensive and participatory approaches in bringing everybody together so that No One is Left Behind.

        India is actively pursuing to achieve these ambitious goals and taken proactive steps at national and sub-national level towards adoption, implementation and monitoring of SDGs. To ensure the integration of SDGs, States have been recognized as the primary stakeholders to achieve Agenda 2030 in the country. In line with this agenda, state of Uttarakhand has been making ardent efforts towards making transformative changes in the state. The State has thus emerged as a Front runner in various development aspect and has displayed great potential to be a role model for other states.
